About Us
Dixie Maverick is simply a group
of close, yet loose knit, Maverick and Comet lovers that found
themselves on the internet, at local car shows and cruises, and
through mutual friendships. We have remained a formal group of
enthusiasts having never formed a club, elected officers, listed
rules, or collected dues. We just meet whenever and with whoever as
the occasion arises. Along the way, our group became more than car
guys and “club members.” We became friends and as the numbers
increased, so did the number of friends.
Most of the events we have and attend is usually with one, two, or
three getting together to eat, work on a member's car, or go to
Summit. As these small get togethers happen, someone will say, “I
have an idea. Let's do...” And, so it happens. We will announce and
have three to four events, meet-'n-eats, cruises, you name it per
year.
Our first “big event,” held at the 2004 Fun Ford Weekend held in
Commerce, GA brought guys and gals from all over Georgia, the
Carolinas, Alabama, Mississippi, and even one straggler from
Maryland. We held two more meets at the Fun Ford Weekends, one at
Atlanta Motor Speedway, and then, we started planning something new
in 2008. In April 2009, the very first Dixie Maverick Stampede was
held and we liked it so much that we did again in 2010. The Dixie
Maverick Stampede is now an annual event. You are invited to the
next one. Details we bill announced on our main web page.
How can all these meetings and events happen without rules, leaders,
and structured organization. Simple. We like and respect other and
we listen to each other. We're just a bunch of neighborhood friends.
It's just that our neighborhood is the good folks who love Mavericks
and Comets all over Dixie.
